This summer, we plan to transform our library into a modern Multimedia Center, where robotics, books, and computers will live side by side. We are leaping ahead from our present optional after-school Robotics Club to offering all students in grades 5-8 a beginning robotics class as part of our regular school curriculum. In order to upgrade the space, run the program effectively and meaningfully, and offer all the technology needed to help our students explore STEM opportunities, we need to purchase drones, robots, additional Chromebooks, and iPads.
A properly run and funded Robotics program teaches the STEM skills needed to prepare our students for their future careers and our world of nonstop innovation. We have already seen passions lit in students who did not know this field even existed for them. We also want this curriculum to build not only leaders, but students who are able to work on a team, building off each other’s ideas.

While we have raised over $30,000 for toward this goal, we are still short on funds. The winnings from the BGE video contest will help further fund this project and help make this dream a reality. We plan to break down walls, open the space to include room for robotics tables, drones, and additional easily moveable tables and chairs to allow us to transport our space into anything we need at any particular time!

Our library has not been fully upgraded since it was built in 1982, and we are very excited to take this leap with our students into the future!
