Emily Cullen – Immaculate Conception School

Proposed Enrichment Project

Immaculate Conception School is a non-public elementary school with an enrollment of 535 students from Pre- 3 through 8th grade. Our school is blessed to have a superb fine arts team of faculty who instill in our students an appreciation for music, art, as well as audio and video technology skills. Students at our school are enthusiastic singers, dancers, and actors! Our full-time music director sees to it that every child in every grade is invited to sing with spirit, as he directs three different choirs to include all grade levels.
Each year, our antiquated auditorium is the setting for numerous events that include our two bands performing classical and popular tunes, as well as our two choirs, the Dance Company, the Junior Dance Company, the Minnies and a Christmas pageant, as well as a spring musical, which this year is “Singing the Rain”. All these events are genuine performing arts enrichment opportunities for the entire student body! Performing arts enrichment is alive and well at Immaculate Conception School and we are excited to be able to offer so many opportunities to our students.
Our students share their fresh, new talents and skills in an antiquated auditorium that was built in 1952. Our young audiences are reminded at every event to be still in their seats so that the squeaks do not disturb the performers. Some of the seating is broken beyond repair. The sound system, auditorium lighting and stage lighting (floor and ceiling) need to be replaced. It would be a wonderful enrichment to our school community to be blessed with updated auditorium technology and furnishings so that our students can let their light shine in brighter, more accommodating surroundings.
