Kristine Stahm – Churchville Elementary School

Churchville Elementary’s school enrichment project helps identify and nurture the gifts and talents of students through acceleration and enrichment. Multiple sources are used to match students to appropriate learning options and students are encouraged to nominate themselves for participation in activities which emphasize high levels of challenge or talent development. Currently, we are providing enrichment in reading and mathematics. With the funds awarded from the Hero Challenge, the students will be supplied with opportunities to explore higher levels of thinking in the content areas of social studies and science. Some possible programs that students could participate in are The Stock Market Game, Destination Imagination, Lego League, and Coding. We would also supply students with resources to extend their ‘passion project’ (independent research project on a career/vocational study of interest) to be hand-on learning. Some possible extensions would be to provide students with materials to create a script and conduct a play if their passion is in performing arts or to build a model electric circuit if their passion is power source. We thank you for your consideration.
