Nicole Campbell – St. Stephen School

We are excited for the opportunity that BGE is providing us at St. Stephen School. With the award money, our school would be able to enrich our curriculum, particularly in technology bringing us further into the 21st Century.
As we embark on building a new middle school, we would like to create more enrichment opportunities for the entire school. Each classroom will move into using interactive projectors to replace old and aging equipment. These projectors allow for more useful presentations without interruptions and shadows.
We would be able to purchase Google Chromebooks for each student to use. We currently share Chromebooks among several grade levels. Our need in technology is great. Teachers are able to incorporate technology into their classrooms, but with limited access and limited availability. With these computers, however, we are able to have students use Google Classroom, Docs, and Drive to research and compile information for class assignments. Students may also use Google Slides for presentations. With access to computers in every classroom, we also hope to move toward Tech books for science classes.
Additionally, our school is limited in purchasing certain licenses for educational websites such as Brainpop and Mystery Science. It would cost our school $2,000 for a Brainpop license and $200 per teacher for a Mystery Science license. Our teachers use this technology to provide support while making learning fun.
Thank you for the opportunity to improve our school and to offer new possibilities for school enrichment at St. Stephen School.
